Thoughts do not equal thinking.

Sounds simple, right? Let me explain.

Thoughts are images, sounds, or feelings that our mind produces. We get tens of thousands of these each day. And we have little control over them.

Thinking is when you are judging or analyzing these thoughts.

The reason this is critical to understand is because “having thoughts” is not what causes us to overthink, experience anxiety, and feel drained.

It’s when you are judging and analyzing these thoughts that these less desirable feelings take effect.

Here’s a quick summary table that you can always refer back to:
